So what exactly is an API Key and how do you use it?
The Google API stands for 'Application Programmable Interface'. In simple terms, this is a "key" that allows you to query the various Google databases directly. In addition they can help programmers in the development of their applications.

Google API's basically consist of Web services, programs and scripts that enable Internet application developers and webmasters to find and process information on the Web and intergrate it directly into thier page content to either enhance functionality, visitor experience or provide useful tools.
