Google expands AdWords pay-per-action advertising beta
INTERNET BUSINESS NEWS-(C)1995-2007 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD
Online search engine company Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) has announced the global expansion of its pay-per-action advertising beta, a new pricing model that enables advertisers to pay when predefined actions are completed on their sites.
Google said the pay-per-action beta, which it first introduced in March 2007, allows advertisers to pay only when actions such as a user making a purchase or signing up for a newsletter are completed on their sites. It claimed many advertisers that have since used the new model have benefitted from the chance to introduce new ways to promote their products and services online.
According to Google, advertisers will now see an alert in their AdWords account advising them they can create pay-per-action campaigns, which it said will offer more control and accuracy over advertising spend and relevancy. It confirmed that advertisers which have enabled AdWords conversion tracking and received 500+ conversions from CPC- and CPM-based campaigns in the last 30 days will be automatically added to the beta on a rolling basis.
Publishers in the Google content network seeking increased control over the ads on their sites can opt for pay-per-action ads including individual ads, a shopping cart of ads or a specific keyword relevant to site content.
